Wax Parties Next Week

OK, we're half way through the season and many of us are still skiing on our storage wax. Bring your skis (limit two pairs) and socialize at our Team wax parties. All Team members welcome. Everyone using Team rentals is asked to make time to come and wax their Team skis one of these two days.

Meet in the wax barn after practice next week (Jan 31 & Feb 2). The Team and ABR will provide the wax, the wax benches, and the instruction. You will provide the labor.

We will order pizza so you won't miss dinner. There's no excuse to pass on this opportunity to give your skis some TLC. Allow at least one hour - should be done by 6:30.

Youth Ski Equipment Needed
The team has run out of kids equipment to rent for the season. On Tuesday ABR ran out of poles for our littlest members.
We have a mission to introduce children to our sport while making it as affordable as possible to families.
If you have any youth ski boots, skis or poles to lend or donate to the team or sell at a low price, please let Ken or Jackie know.
We still have some adult equipment available for rent, $30 for the season.

TEAM GOGEBIC 2012 SEASON OVERVIEW

What's New?
  1. We start skiing the first Tuesday of Dec. (12/6/11).
  2. The first four weeks (ALL of DEC) are devoted to technique. This means "how to ski" if you're a beginner, review of the fundamentals if you're intermediate, and fine tuning those core competencies if you're advanced. EVERYONE is encouraged to attend ALL FOUR sessions in each technique as they build on the ones before so if you miss one, you miss the progression. However, please come even if you can't make all of the sessions. These lessons will be led by Ken. Adult helpers are needed.
  3. Starting in January, adults will "just ski" - group skis with assigned workouts led by experienced adult team mates. Volunteers needed to lead the group sessions.
  4. Jackie will be the Kids Coach again this year. The kids will also undergo a four week lesson progression in December (see #2 above), led by Jackie and assistants. Ken will join her co-facilitating the Kids Program starting in January. Several adults have come forward to servve as volunteer assistants for the Kids Program. This is awesome! Please let Jackie know if you are able to join the team of assistants for the Kids Program.
What's the same?
  1. Tuesdays, 4:00, ABR, CLASSICAL technigue.
  2. Thursdays, 4:00, ABR, SKATE technique.
  3. You can only attend Tuesdays or only attend Thursdays if you only want to practice one technique or if your schedule only allows you to attend one day or the other.
  4. Adults and children alike will at times all be together for fun and games and lessons, and at times divide up into smaller groups to ski at the distance and level that suits them. Everyone is encouraged to learn both techniques and to participate in at least one event, but no one is required to.
  5. Free trail pass and free equipment rental for TG members at TG sessions, provided by ABR. Thank them for this generosity!
  6. 20% discount on season passes from ABR for TG members - ski all you want all season!
  7. Equipment rental through the team, priority to youth, $30/$50, for the year. You keep it, take care of it, use it any day of the week, return in in good shape at the end of the season. See Ken.
