Who We Are
Team Gogebic is a friendly group of
all ages that meets to have fun while improving their skiing abilities.
We encourage both classical skiing and skate skiing techniques.
Our Goals
Our first and foremost goal is to have fun and promote cross-country skiing.
Next is to increase event participation and create a support network for members to achieve their goals.
Last but certainly not least, is to encourage the youth of the area to ski and to develop any young athletes wishing to compete.
Winter Schedule
Our Winter session goes from Nov. - March.
Generally, we meet Tues. and Thurs. afternoons from 4:00 - 5:00. Weekends are devoted to training on our own and racing. Come whichever days your schedule and interests allow.
We ski at ABR Ski Trails just south of Ironwood.
We alternate between skating and striding. All are encouraged to learn both techniques.
Off-Season Training
Team
Gogebic meets year-round to work on ski-specific conditioning. In the "off season" (when there is no snow) we
devote ourselves to trail running with poles for the cardiovascular
system, plyometrics for strength and proprioception, and roller skiing.
